Mercedes Benz W196 Streamliner

This is one of 170+ images of classic cars and aircraft that I took at the September 2004 Circuit Revival meeting at Goodwood, in Sussex.
[Index of Goodwood images]
The restored Mercedes Benz below was photographed over the 3 day weekend at Goodwood. This silver W196 Streamliner is a grand prix car of the type often seen at motor racing meets and events in years gone by, this particular Mercedes Benz grand prix car dating back to the 1954 era. Such cars
would have appeared in grand prix car races at motorsport meetings, such as those at Goodwood.
You'll find many more restored vehicles similar to this Mercedes Benz W196 Streamliner elsewhere on Classic Wheels, just have a look at the left hand menu.

Further notes on this classic W196 Streamliner:
This is the W196 from the 1954-1955 seasons. Drivers found it tricky to position the car on the track with such a frontal overhang so the experiment was dropped and conventionally bodied 196 racing cars were used instead.
